Founded in 1896, Grand View is a liberal arts university affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Located in the heart of Des Moines on a vibrant campus, Grand View offers a high-quality education to a diverse student body through a career-oriented, liberal arts–grounded curriculum. Grand View welcomes traditional students and adult learners representing a wide range of religious and cultural backgrounds.  Forty undergraduate majors and five graduate degrees are offered.

GV Students Are Engaged
Students are encouraged to develop leadership and team skills through involvement in campus organizations, which include intercollegiate and intramural athletics, speech and theatre groups, department clubs, student government, and the Grand View Choir and Wind Ensemble. 

Student athletes compete in men's baseball, basketball, bowling, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling, women's basketball, bowling,  , competitive dance, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball and co-ed cheerleading and shooting sports. Grand View participates in the Heart of America Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  In recent years, the Grand View Vikings have become a powerhouse in the NAIA, winning the 2013 NAIA national championship in football and five back-to-back national championships in wrestling,  numerous conference championships, and coaching awards.  Athletic scholarships are available.

The GV community also excels in service. Named to the Presidential Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for several years running,  in 2015 GV engaged its students, faculty and staff in 56,931 hours of meaningful service that achieved measurable results in the community.
